Background: | Kfarsghab and Morh
Kfarsghab are twin villages, in the Caza (district) of Zgharta, in
the North Lebanon region.
Kfarsghab, the summer village, is located on the road going from Ehden to Bsharri in the northern part of the Qadisha valley. Kfarsghab is mentioned in documents as old as 1283 AD. Morh Kfarsghab, the winter village, is located on the north-western slope of the Joueit valley separating Miziara from Bnachii. A written document mentioning Morh is dated to October / November 1748 AD (Thu'l-Qa'dah 1161 Hijri). |

Location: | Kfarsghab is located
between Ehden and Bane. It is facing Ehden and AinTourine to the
south. To its south-west, we find the village of Bane and to its
west down in the Qadisha Valley, the monastery of Qozhaya. Towering
over Kfarsghab to its south, one can see the Monastery of Ain Baqra. Morh Kfarsghab is located at the edge of the Jdaideh plain between Bnachii and Miziara. To the west, we find the village of Iaal and to the south-west, the village of Kfaryachit. |

Population: | The population registered officially was of 3,772
persons in 1998, making Kfarsghab the fourth populated area of the
district, after Zgharta, Miziara and Sebeel. It is estimated that
25% of the registered persons (ca. 900 persons) live actually in the
village. Emigration took its toll of Kfarsghab population - but also
blessed it economically - since the mid 19th century. It is
estimated that 20,000 persons around the world - mainly in USA and
in Australia - are related by origin to Kfarsghab. |

By Car: | Kfarsghab from
Beirut: distance 135 km North Maritime Highway Beirut-Jounieh-Jbeil-Batroun-Chekka. In Chekka, take the exit towards the Cedars through Amioun - Kousba - Tourza. In Tourza, take the road to the left towards Ehden past Tourza-Sereel-Aarbet Qozhaya-Ehden. In Ehden, take the road towards Bcharri. Kfarsghab is the first village after Ehden. Morh Kfarsghab from Beirut: distance 124 km North Maritime Highway Beirut-Jounieh-Jbeil-Batroun-Chekka. In Chekka, take the exit towards the Cedars till the crossrod of Bechmezzine. Take to the left the road towards Zgharta through Bechmezzine - Btourram - Bsarma - Daraya. At the end of the road, take to the right the fast road towards Ehden for 2 km. The road to Bouhayret Bnachii and Morh is to your left. |
By Public Transportation during daytime between 6am and 5pm: | Kfarsghab from
Beirut: Take the bus or collective taxis for Tripoli near the
bus-stop at the National Museum in Beirut. At Tripoli, go to the
Zgharta stop and take a collective taxi to Zgharta then Ehden. The
same taxi may take you to Kfarsghab for an additional cost (+2 to 3
US$) Morh Kfarsghab from Beirut: Take the bus or collective taxis for Tripoli near the bus-stop at the National Museum in Beirut. At Tripoli, go to the Zgharta stop and take a collective taxi to Zgharta. The same taxi may take you to Morh Kfarsghab for an additional cost (+3 to 5 US$) |
By taxi during nighttime after 5pm: | Kfarsghab and Morh
Kfarsghab from Beirut: the only option is to take a taxi from
Beirut. There are two options : - Take a taxi from a known taxi company in Beirut. The taxi companies in Beirut have standard published tariffs for North Lebanon (ask for the Tariffs of Zgharta when going to Morh or Ehden when going to Kfarsghab). The fare is fixed and has to be agreed beforehand and would be around 40 to 60 US$. - Book in advance a taxi from Kfarsghab to pick you up in Beirut or at the airport: This is the best solution if somebody in Kfarsghab could make arrangements for you. The fare is usually higher (waiting time at the airport). - For a convenient airport shuttle service, you can contact RS Tourguides, a local tour guides company.
